A warm, well-equipped Pilates studio in the heart of Basel, offering Pilates to the local and expat community and catering for all ages and abilities.

Classes

Private and Small Group classes are carried out in the studio, using bespoke Pilates equipment. The use of resistance springs facilitates an understanding of how your body moves, and makes it easier to access good movement and build strength.
At Home classes use mats and small props. This gives you the flexibility to fit your practice around your life and commitments.
All classes are 60 minutes.

Private

These classes are suitable for one or two people and offer a high level of attention from the teacher. They provide the opportunity to tailor exercises specifically to your needs and goals whilst still working the whole body. This is a great way to get direct personal training as well as to follow up rehabilitation work.

Small Group

With a maximum of three participants, you work under close supervision from the teacher. To join a group you need to have completed an induction course of three private classes where a personal programme is agreed. This programme evolves with your progress.

At Home

These are perfect for anyone unable to regularly attend the studio. The classes can be arranged for individuals, couples as well as groups of up to six people, giving a more personal touch to the traditional mat class. All you will need are the mats.

About Pilates

«Change happens through movement, and movement heals.»
Joseph Pilates
Pilates is a versatile and holistic movement practice. Truly anyone can benefit: whether you are looking to get fitter, have a specific goal in mind, are recovering from injury, are pregnant, or just feel the need for more balance in your life.
This structured, adaptable and low-impact method of exercise will give you the tools to move better, work deeper and feel stronger, whatever your age and ability.

The benefits of regular Pilates practice are recognised for providing better posture, reducing back pain, improving balance and increasing overall strength and fitness with very little stress on the joints. In this way you become more aware of your body, more confident in its abilities, and more in tune with how it connects to your mind, enabling you to live a stronger, healthier life.

Principles

Based on a repertoire of exercises developed by Joseph Pilates in the early twentieth century, certain principles such as alignment, breath, centring and whole body movement will always be taught. ( . . . )

Within this framework the pace and level of the class can vary to suit your needs. Still, together with flow and coordination these principles ensure even isolated movements lead to functional, long lasting improvements.

How I Work

My approach is naturally curious, and underpinned by a sound anatomical understanding of the body. ( . . . )
My approach is naturally curious, and underpinned by a sound anatomical understanding of the body. Supported by the extensive framework of Pilates exercises, I use both a mechanical and an intuitive approach to enable good movement. My style is dynamic, interactive and light-hearted. Appreciating that no two bodies are the same, I believe we can all be enabled to strenghten and find good movement in line with our abilities. I enjoy working wth my clients to explore together how to best address their concerns and meet their goals.

Who I am

Having grown up in the countryside outside Lausanne as a British-Swiss national, I moved to London in my twenties and built a career in Human Resources. Spending more time behind a computer than outdoors brought postural issues and eventually a back operation. Determined to prevent any recurrence, I started doing Pilates and was impressed with the results. Not only did it address my postural issues but it also strengthened my body from the inside out. Quite quickly I decided to commit to training as a teacher.

My Experience and Training

Having enjoyed teaching in London for a number of years, working with physios and in highly regarded studios ( . . . )
Having enjoyed teaching in London for a number of years, working with physios and in highly regarded studios such as Trevor Blount Pilates, I recently settled in Basel, in the wonderful practice community of Sankt Alban-Vorstadt. I completed my training in London over a three year period at Pilates in Motion with Anoushka Boone, founding member of the Pilates Foundation. I am fully qualified as both a matwork and equipment teacher.

Testimonials

Pascale brings great energy, enthusiasm and intelligence to her work and has a natural ability to convey and teach movement.

Sara Honey

The biggest merit for Pascale is improving my back and thereby changing my life. I have gone from 15 years of not being able to run or do any sports to playing tennis and dancing ballet. That for me is amazing!

Sini Baggott

I recommend Pascale 100%.

Simon Walton

Pascale's passion & belief in the holistic benefits of this Pilates format is infectious and we do laugh an awful lot, which is very important.

Peter Sloane

I have a curvature of the spine and have been immensely impressed by Pascale's ability to understand and address the problems that this has caused me for many years, help me both to reduce their impact and strengthen my back to compensate.

Belinda Canoza

Pascale helped me recover from a stubborn hip injury, treated by several physios before, and then re-educated my body to prevent recurrence. She also kept me in shape during pregnancy and post birth, adjusting our practice to my ever changing body. She's amazing to work with. You are in for a treat!

Zarja Cibej

I have a heavy travel and work schedule, and back pain from an old sports injury. Over time I have come to trust Pascale implicitly. She has a great understanding of body mechanics and is always updating her knowledge, while remaining mindful of my strengths and limitations. She is precise, calm, and good-natured: an outstanding Pilates teacher.
